The answer to having a stalker is not to remain Hush, Hush

Hush, Hush
Becca Fitzpatrick

There is a not-so fine line between YA books that fondly remind you how silly you were as a tween girl and YA books that portray teenage girls as the stupidest life forms to walk the face of the Earth - Hush, Hush falls so far into the latter camp that it was aggravating.

Nora Grey is a 16 year old high school student who seems to be every parent's dream - good student, responsible reporter for the school newspaper, and completely uninterested in dating. Nora is best friends with Vee, a.k.a. her polar opposite, and the two of them claim to have a connection that goes beyond friendship or even sisterhood, a deeper connection for life. When Patch - a dark, mysterious, male student - starts at their high school, Nora finds herself attracted to the most unlikely candidate...which coincides with her life being in danger!

The plot of this book was mind-numbingly simple; I had pretty much the entire thing figured out about 25% of the way through but kept reading because I thought "surely there must be more"...there wasn't. I literally wanted to reach into the book and give Nora a good shake - someone is stalking her but she doesn't tell her mom because she doesn't want to stress her mom out (great message to send to young girls); her and Vee claim to be best friends but Nora hardly confides in her all and, when she does, Vee laughs at her and then continues to put her in uncomfortable situations (not how besties behave); and for as smart and Nora is portrayed, she sure makes blatantly stupid decisions and believes lies so transparent a blind man could see through them!

What a rotten start to my reading year :(
